Content/Comment Submission Guidelines
When posting to Open Source Catholic, a few guidelines should normally be met, otherwise your posting (whatever it may be) is likely to be edited and/or removed from the site. These guidelines are not always *strictly* enforced, however, if you want to be sure to remain a member in good standing on Open Source Catholic, please try to stick to this guide.
- Nothing blatantly 'politically rousing' or possibly conceived as hateful will be tolerated. This includes abusive or offensive posts. While Open Source Catholic is an open forum for your ideas, we are not open to anything that could cause visitors to be distressed and/or offended.
- Please try to stick to issues dealing with faith and technology. We can discuss other things (and the 'lounge' forum is specifically meant for these things), but blog posts, articles, and other posts in other forums should try to stick to what this site is about. In other words, please keep it focused!
- Certain editorial guidelines should be met, in order to not make this website seem disjointed. These guidelines are as follows:
- Titles should be kept to less than 10 words if at all possible. Long titles are subject to being edited in order to fit better in the different lists on this site.
- Styles used in the body of your posts should be fitting with the rest of the site. Please do not paste text from other software, such as Microsoft Word or Internet Explorer, as (a) you may be violating copyright, and (b) you will most assuredly break parts of the layout of this website. If styles are not met, expect that your post will be edited somewhat to at least match the style of the rest of the site.
- Use of bold, italic, and headings should be uniform and not overdone.
- Proper English grammar should be used, unless you are using another language. Even so, proper grammar should be used in any language. We will likely not edit your post to correct grammar, but don't be surprised if a poorly-written post is demoted from the listings on this site.
- "In all things, Charity" — in the words of one of our dear spiritual fathers, make sure that charity underlies all that you write, on this site and elsewhere. Uncharitable posts will be removed.
- If you are a spambot, all your posts will be deleted. This also goes for marketers who try to disguise themselves as legitimate members of the community. If your post is a blatant marketing piece, it will be removed. We determine if the posting is market-ese by seeing if links provided are actually relevant to the posted topic.
