Catholicism and New Media
Hello, friends.
I'm writing my undergraduate thesis on the Church's need to utilize new media. Exciting, eh? You may be interested in:
- Case Studies: I'm seeking some parishes and ministries who are using, have used, or are planning to begin using new media.
- Literature Search: Got some great bookmarked links on the Church + new media? Sharing is caring.
- Literature Collection: I'd love to know if there are any "libraries," directories or collections of links to articles about the Church and new media. If a place like this doesn't exist, I definitely think it should. Anyone interested in this type of a project, do get in touch with me.
Do contact me if any of the above interest you, or if you'd like to contribute your "2 cents" to my writing. I would eventually like to publish this piece as a resource.
Peace.
Angela,
I am Director of Evangelization and Catechesis at St. Clement's parish in St. Louis, MO. We plan to develop and implement our entire ministry around the Internet. We look forward to working with Jeff Geerling, web developer for the Archdiocese of St. Louis and with instructors and seminarians at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis to do this right. Just starting to move down the path...

I work for the Archdiocese for the Military Services which is the only US non-territorial diocese, meaning that we aren't a location, we are a group of people. Anyone in the armed forces is technically a part of our diocese, meaning that we have members all over the world. This presents a number of challenges for us, namely the constant struggle for unity and contact with our members, but since I arrived here, about three months ago, we've been looking at new media as a solution to these problems.
