Wingdings type font with a certain character

Does anyone know where I can find a "gavel" type character in a free font somewhere? I'm trying to put together a small cheat-sheet for my Knights of Columbus council, and want to have gavel characters to indicate how many times the gavel is knocked.
You might have to (if you're doing this on the web) use an image (clipart or a character), and replace a certain letter with a background image (using CSS) or via Javascript... Can't think of a really easy way to do this.
