Catholictuner.com
I am looking for developers for this site. The goals are rather ambitious;
- To centralize Catholic Media into a CMS.
- To globalize the content by language.
- Create a media player, an “electronic” version of a radio (hence tuner name)
- To work directly with content providers.
- To this use open standards
- To offer it to users and content providers for free
- To collaborate with Catholic Radio Association to become a tool
After a cursory glance at the site, I'm really liking what I'm seeing (at least as far as the structure/content/etc. is concerned)!
I have a few suggestions for the short-term:
- Install the External Links module - it will help visitors see which links are going to shoot them off to another website.
- Consider reformatting the template a little so it fits better on a 1024x768 screen; right now, there's about 50px cut off on the right, requiring users to scroll sideways.
- Install Fivestar and the Voting API, and allow people to vote on content and such—give users something more to do, and make them feel appreciated :-)
- Think about disabling the WYSIWYG editor on the Contact page, as it simply adds a bit of load time for that page, and I don't think it would be necessary for someone to be making specialized text and such on a contact form...
These are some preliminary suggestions; other than that, hopefully a good themer/developer will come along and help you get that extra shine. This is a site that I'm excited about!
Hmm... that shouldn't be the case, though, as the module is working correctly on OSC - The 'All User Tweets' page shows everything correctly: http://www.opensourcecatholic.com/all-user-tweets
One more suggestion, which (I think) will make it much more appealing for those who wish to add content (podcasts, blogs, etc.) to the site:
Try to make the submission forms (a) drop-dead simple, and (b) beautiful/eye-pleasing.
Play around with ImageCache, ImageField, and ImageAPI to make it so that the image can be any size, but ImageCache displays a 100x100 px cropped image; then try to add some styling or categorization to the submission forms by putting things together into a fieldset (using CCK, go to the content type, then manage fields, then make a new field grouping... then make sure you set the display how you like it in the 'Display fields' section).
It's a great start, for sure!
Much better. And, just for reference, you can change the 'label' of fields to make them more human-readable - the field name (lowercase/underscores) has to stay that way, but you can add spaces to the label names so they read, for instance "Website Image" rather than "WebSiteImage" - just a quick tip :-)
Unfortunately, no; I wish I could do this too. TinyMCE allows for a resizable text area, and I'm hoping this comes to FCK someday.
Hmm... never actually noticed that app; I've used the SWFTools module, along with a variety of players for different situations, like FlowPlayer and the 1PixelOut MP3 player, for most projects that needed media integration.
That is pretty comprehensive... but your site is still extremely relevant, methinks, since you can aggregate catholic Podcasts, streams, video, etc. - more of a 'catholic new media hub' than a simple catholic radio station listing...
I like it! Although, our St. Louis-area station, 1080 WRYT, isn't listed :-(
Yep - a lot of these kinds of stations don't have very informative/well-planned websites.
I listen to Living Bread Radio, AM1060, out of Akron/Canton, Ohio. They were a big part in my reversion.
Looks good! You might want to compress that Vatican photo though...it's >400kb. I'm guessing you can get it under 50kb and the site will load even faster.
Seems like a problem with the Gmap module to me... have you filed an issue / support request in the Gmap issue queue?
Cool! I was going to say, it might be Views-related... I have had many a small (usually not that bad, though) problem related to CCK, Views, and ImageField updates.

lol... I was about to suggest using Drupal for this—but I noticed you're already doing so!
I would try to use the SWF Tools for audio/media management, and use Drupal's localization system to make it multilingual; I don't think there's a CMS as devoted to multiple-language development as Drupal... unfortunately some of the most amazing features will have to wait until Drupal 7.
Any takers?
