  • What's in YOUR ears?

Since I spend alot of time on wifi in libraries and coffee shops, I bring along my squishy marshmallow green ear buds (http://tinyurl.com/lvojdy) and fire up itunes.

I've got a decent collection of music, but kinda burned out on it. Lately, I've been firing up the iTunes radio stations and for whatever reason kinda getting into electronic music. At the moment, I'm listening to sense.fm progressive. I also like the smoothjazz.com channel.

Does anyone else listen to tunes while they work?

    What's in your ears?

  • Issues with Vegas Studio

So I've kind of been working with Vegas Studio, and I've run into a black screen problem.  The project version plays of my video plays, but the rendered version does not. (.mov, .wmv, .avi formats)  The rendered video shows up black, but the still screens remain (pictures, text, etc.)  Also, the sound is in tact.  I don't think it is a codec problem because when I replay the rendered video in Vegas Studio, it doesn't work, either.  Any thoughts?

  • U.S. Archdioceses and Dioceses on Facebook

As a companion posting to our directory of U.S. Archdioceses and Dioceses on Twitter, I thought I'd include any of our stateside entities on Facebook below (note: not all of these groups leverage their social media presence as much as they could... but it's good that they're trying ;-).

Are we missing any? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Major Firefox Headache - FIXED!

For the past few months, Firefox has been getting slower and slower to boot/quit and frequently needed to be restarted.

Driving me nuts. Safari and Opera run just great, so I figured it was all of my FF extensions.

I stumbled on a discussion forum of someone having the exact same problem as me...and it's fixed now. Had to delete the places.sqlite file in my firefox profile. It had grown to 350MB. Apparently, this issue is fixed in FF3.5, but since I upgrading from previous versions it brought the bloat along.

    Warning:...

  • IRC Added to Open Source Catholic

Last night I added a new section to Open Source Catholic - the IRC ("Internet Relay Chat") discussion area. Simply click on the IRC link at the top of any page, choose a nickname, and join in with other Catholics who want to discuss a wide variety of issues—pretty much anything goes!

My main focus would be to do things such as allow a few Catholic web developers to collaborate via IRC on a project, or to have an open forum on some important topic. The #OSCatholic channel can also...

  • Group Looking for a Simple Conference Website

A Catholic women's faith group in St. Louis, MO is looking to have a website set up for their conference, similar in form/function/style to this site: http://www.catholicmenforchrist.org/site/

It doesn't have to be anything extraordinary or special, just look nice and work well. I can put you in touch with the group who is hoping to have this website as soon as they can; their conference is in February 2010. Please post here if you're interested!

  • Father MD's Kitchen Table

Father Michael Depcik has a vlog called Father MD's Kitchen Table where he provides a weekly homily in American Sign Language. He also provides common prayers, the rosary, the divine mercy chaplet, and information on saints in ASL. Since I'm learning ASL myself, I watch his vlog every week. You do have to know ASL though -- there's a English summary for each entry, but not a translation.
