  • Firefox Catholic add-ons and collection

I noticed that there are Christian, Jewish and Moslem plug-ins and collections for Firefox, but nothing that is specifically Catholic.

For example, there's a plugin that calculates prayer times for Moslems, but nothing similar for the Liturgy of the Hours.

There are several bible add-ons, but nothing that specifically gives Catholic versions (although I think a couple might include the New American Bible or New Jerusalem bible among their options.

Is anyone interested in something like this?

Does anyone else work in the Data Quality/Data Profiling area?  If so, what do you think of the Talend suite?  What are the best OS programs out there right now?

  • drupal use by religious communities

    Hi there,

Wondering if anyone knows of any religious communities using drupal for their websites?  I'm helping some Sisters with their technological presence, and was hoping to give them an option for their website that would make it really easy to update (which makes me lean toward WordPress) but I know Drupal has some outstanding configuration abilities.  If you have examples for me, I'd appreciate it.

    Bright blessings,

    Regina

  • Room To Pray Website

www.roomtopray.net is my website to encourage people to pause for prayer when browsing and also as a portal to interactive online prayer.

The site is rather basic right now and I have a fair bit of work to do as outlined in the How You Can Help link.

I have a lot of ideas on expanding the online prayer activities and have set up an online survey to assess people's interest.

I'd appreciate comments on the site and the associated payer activities and ideas on how they can be improved.

    One area in...

  • Open Source Catholic Moved to Slicehost [Updated]

[Update: An article on Midwestern Mac explaining how I optimized the Slice to serve up OSC without any huge resource-hogging.]

If you can see this article, you're seeing Open Source Catholic served up fresh from Slicehost; all the sites I'm running will eventually be moved over... but for now, I'm working to optimize the Slice using Open Source Catholic as a test site.

In a short time, I'll post some of my problems/solutions, as well as thoughts on hosting providers, for the benefit of other Catholic...

  • Online Prayer

    Hi everybody

I’ve just found this site from TweetCatholic and I think it’s a super idea.I’m interested in both getting help and giving help.

    Getting Help

I have a website www.roomtopray.net which is a portal to Catholic Online prayer using TeamSpeak, software for audio chat.

At the moment, the online prayer consists of Vespers and Compline daily and Lectio Divina weekly but I’m looking to expand that and have a survey running at the moment at http://onlineprayersurvey.questionpro.com/ - I’d be delighted if anyone here could take part in it.

    I...

  • Status Updates

Just wanted to let everyone know a couple things:

    1. I'm going to be working on moving Open Source Catholic over to the 'official' Airy Blue theme from Drupal.org, rather than a hacked-together version I made while working on the site (sometimes trying to get something out the door fast makes one do it the not-quite-exactly-perfect way). There might be a couple layout bugs here and there in the next couple days.
    2. The IRC channel has been moved to #oscatholic, as that channel is more for the Catholic tech community, whereas...
